STAFF RECOMMENDED ACTION:
  1. Approve the Cooperative Purchase Contract for Verkada Security Services Through CTS LLC in the amount of $184,788.62 utilizing cooperative contract #2024-12 with funding located in GL # 001-06-152-0512-03-4224 ; and
  2. Authorize the City Manager to execute the necessary documents.
Executive Summary:
Facilities Maintenance established the Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC) in 2021 to assist in better communications and coordination between divisions for the maintenance and management of facilities. This coordination of the organization has allowed for good discussion of similar problems and successes while building a more robust and resilient facilities network city-wide. This committee has been tremendously successful in finding significant financial savings and finding areas of improvement in the current management of city facilities. The FAC was tasked to investigate enhanced security services and protocols at the city facilities.
The FAC stood up a Security Advisory focus group which vetted these concerns and then worked down the path of brain storming sound security enhancement ideas and projects. One of the proposed projects is to enhance and modernize city access control systems. This would include a transition to more user-friendly RFID controlled doorways reducing the need for unlocked doors and manual keypads.
The other piece of the project was adding additional video surveillance points across specific city facilities. After the research and vetting by the security subcommittee they were able to find Verkada Security Services system that meets all City’s operational needs and IT requirements. Verkada is a current service provider for the city and has delivered a great product. This proposal is to take City Hall security to the next level by enhancing access control points and greatly improve the video surveillance.
Financial Impact:
Facilities Maintenance was approved for funding through the FY24 budget process and would utilize funding in GL account # 001-06-152-0512-3-4224.
Policy Impact:
Policy impacts from enhancing building security and security process would set the tone that the city takes employee security seriously and is committed to creating a stronger and healthy work environment while ensuring citizen safety when visiting city facilities in a proactive manner.
