TITLE:
Military Installation Sustainability (MIS) Grant Update
DESIRED OUTCOME:
The item is for information only. 
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
In response to the Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) grant that was completed in 2018, Coconino County applied for a follow-up grant to implement the recommendations from the JLUS.  The new grant is called the Military Installation Sustainability (MIS) and the sum of ~$920,000 was awarded in August of 2020.  Matrix Design Group was awarded the contract after a competitive procurement as the MIS contractor in the fall of 2020 with work starting shortly thereafter.  A presentation will be provided at the joint meeting. 
INFORMATION:
Tasks of the Military Implementation Sustainability grant include:
 
Task 1.  Dark Sky non-conforming lighting database with a City of Flagstaff demonstration project, outreach brochures and after-action report.
 
Task 2.  Outreach and education campaign highlighting the military installation missions.
 
Task 3.  Forest industry feasibility study.
 
Task 4.  Legislative analysis and strategic engagement plan (specific to installation protection).
 
Task 5.  Installation resiliency report
 
Task 6.  Camp Navajo/Naval Observatory economic impact modeling and report.
